Enhancing Therapeutic Outcomes for Acupuncture with Flower Essences (Part 2)

Continuing from Part 1, now we look at flower essences – what they are, how they work and how we can use them in a therapeutic situation to enhance & augment treatment outcomes, particularly in the case of acupuncture or other body therapies that recognise the meridian system.

Vibrational Flower Essences

The healing attribute of each unique flower is determined through a process known as the Doctrine of Signatures, which is the traditional means by which a plant’s healing quality was determined in the herbal pharmacopeia. Making a flower essence is an intentional process that uses pure spring water with the selected flower placed on the surface of the water. The bowl containing the water and flowers is then left in the sun for a specific time so that the vibrational imprint of the flower is captured by the water.

The resulting flower water (mother tincture) is then further processed & potentised in a manner similar to homeopathy until the desired vibrational frequency is reached that renders it into a medicine to be taken orally or otherwise applied. Because emotions, mental states and spiritual virtues reside in the unseen energy anatomy of the human being then the potentized flower medicine can be energy matched to the resonance of any one of these aspects.

This matching of energy frequency is known as the process of entrainment, whereby something takes on the same pattern or rhythm as something else. This process is called vibrational healing. In this case, the unbalanced emotion is exposed to the unique resonance of the flower that carries a similar but pure, unadulterated pattern of vibration as the emotion, feeling, thought or attitude. The imbalance as thought or emotion (energy-in-motion) will then entrain to the pure expression of the flower’s vibration and the person will feel resolution and a more balanced expression of the emotional state or attitude that was formerly problematic.

Acupuncture works in a similar manner, except that the vibrational imbalance is redressed & entrained to balance through the use of specific-purpose acupoints and meridians using needles and other treatment strategies.

Using Flower Essences to Enhance Treatment & Foster Patient Compliance

Traditionally flower essences are applied orally, twice a day, usually first thing in the morning and last thing at night. This application method is used classically when there is a known issue (or issues) negatively dominating a person’s life. The issue is identified and then either a pure essence is prescribed in the case of a specific emotional holding, or in the case where a non-specific problem is sapping the vitality and confidence of a person, an essence blend is prescribed. Because the essences work subtly yet powerfully the prescription dose is usually of quite short duration, often only for one to two weeks.

It is common for yet another issue/s to arise following the resolution of the first and that is because we store our emotional holdings in the body in layers. When the first layer has cleared then commonly another deeper layer will pop up. This is the nature of natural healing - that the Body Mind ‘unwinds’ gently and over time to resolve holdings that have been held in the musculature and tissues for many years, effectively blocking vital qi and creating imbalance.

Acupuncture treatment works in the same way – one treatment is not going to resolve a lifetime of imbalance and qi blockage. When the two modalities are complementarily combined, this process can be sped up and fore-shortened because, as discussed above both therapies enhance one another.

The beauty of flower essences is that they open the Mind Body to treatment because they are so subtle, non-invasive and vibrationally coherent. They can be used traditionally in a number of ways: Firstly, flower essences can be used in conjunction with acupuncture by orally applying the essence (with permission from the client) by giving the client 7 drops of a selected concentrate essence in a glass of pure, pristine water, prior to the treatment.

Regular Dosing

Essences support outcomes following a treatment.

Secondly, the practitioner can send the client home with a dose-strength selected essence (or blend of essences) to be taken twice daily until completed. This method creates a powerful adjunct to a treatment that continues its effect between treatments.

Combining Flower Essences with Acupuncture

Techniques such as applying flower essences to acupoints, along a meridan, during massage or acupressure or for energy healing with application to chakras can powerfully enhance treatments within the clinic.

Along a meridian

By applying a flower essence that helps a person let go appropriately of grief and sadness, such as Bleeding Heart, along the Lung meridian, in addition to applying needles, the therapeutic outcome is enhanced.

How Do I Know which Flower Essence to Prescribe?

Each Heart Radiance Flower Essence carries unique vibratory signature & healing energy. There are a number of different approaches a practitioner can use:

  • Prescribing an appropriate essence/essence dose blend, determined in the consultation process to be a major emotional holding for the client.

  • Matching an essence’s healing qualities with the emotional concordance of the meridian being treated.

  • Matching an essence/essence blend with the chakra that the meridians draw upon.

  • Matching the therapeutic action of an acupoint with a selected essence/essence blend.

To learn more about practical applications of these techniques and charts with the appropriate concordances matching the flower essence to the meridian, chakra, acupoint or emotional state of the patient, see Annie’s course Enhancing Therapeutic Outcomes for acupuncture & body therapies.
